Default Need your help! MBP i5, Audio 2, Xone 42, Mackie MR8's, Kontrol X1

My mate is having bad sound issues with his MacBook Pro i5, audio 2, Mackie MR8's mkII's, xone 42, and a kontrol X1! You can be playing fine then all of a sudden the sound distorts badly then after a few seconds goes ok again, it sounds that bad you have to turn it down until it sorts itself out. He's on Traktor pro 1.2.6 with the newest audio 2 driver. Its not a crackling or popping like a latency issue, its a full on distortion (like its clipping really badly).

We'v tried the obvious, reinstalling the audio 2 mac driver (newest one), changed the usb cables, changed audio cables, tried different channels on the 42. Latency at 10ms and sample rate on 44Khz (which should be well within what an i5 mac can handle).

The audio 2 works absolutely fine on my core 2 duo macbook pro, the only difference being I mix internally.

Another thing I should say is we think this only started happening after the X1 was added to the set up?

Any help would be top, obviously it's not a cheap set up so any ideas that you think could help would be appreciated.

    cheers!

As in 'pretty quick after adding the X1', or, 'it never happened before the X1 was added to the setup'?

Why not try replicating the problem with certain pieces of equipment removed from the set up so you can work out which piece is causing the issues?

I bet it's the laptop. Reformat?

As in it never happened at all before the x1 was added.

it wont be the mac its self it will be the drivers,or usb's

try putting the audio 2 in the usb port closest to the power adapter
Use different speakers //replace speaker cables
use older drivers for the audio 2

Wasn't there just a new version of traktor? That's a new factor too.

Hadn't read carefully enough, A2DJ's had some instable drivers before, try the (I believe) 2.0.15 one

Edit: 2.0.15 is Windows-only apparently, don't know what are known stable OSX drivers...

I think it is the laptop, a driver issue maybe. We don't want to format just yet incase there's a simpler fix. But that could be an option if it continues.

we'v tried changing the USB ports, that made no difference.

Im sure I read somewhere that if you install previous drivers, traktor will always use the newest one available?

how do you delete the newer driver? all i can see in the audio 2 folder is documentation?
