PA Speakers Help Pair - $1000??

Are the B 52'S good quality speaker. there really cheap?

The B-52's are the most suggested entry level setup as far as PA speakers go. I've dealt with the setup in person, and honestly for the money I think it's a great deal. There are a ton more options when you start throwing more money at the setup, but for basic house-parties and practice at home, they are perfect IMO.

I really suggest going down to a store and giving a serious listen to different speakers to figure out exactly what you want. Also, set yourself a hard budget. If you want to go unpowered, it can also open up a world of options with some more cash... But it's also more complicated to get set up.

I've dealt with the thumps before as well, and like others have said, to me they sound a bit muddy. That alone would keep me away since music is the thing I'm the most particular about. I'd rather have something sound good than be loud and sound like crap, but that's just me. I think having awesome sound is something a lot of people overlook.

Those Behringers are what I have had my eyes on for a while. It's a coin toss for me though between those and Mackies...as the Mackie's sound is supposed to be cleaner, but the Behringer's can be turned up louder.

The B-52 Matrix1000v2 is a 700watt system.

Each monitor is 150watts rms.

The Sub gets 400 watts rms.

Equals 700rms total for the system.


Wthe Warfedales are 420RMS for each monitors.

Thats 840rms combined in monitors.

+ the Gemini sub at 1000watts RMS (did you even read that? This $500 Gemini sub is 2000 watt peak, 1000watt RMS, and I can tell you personally it sounds very clear, with a comparably clean bass output compared to alot of other bass cabinets I have heard)


That is a total combined RMS of 1820watts!!!!!

....Almost tripple the B52 setup, and fully capable of moving I would say, up to 200-250 bodies indoors, 100-150 outdoors.

And again, this is also extremely true.

And it is much more heavily affected by driver diameter, speaker cabinet size, driver efficiency, and things like horn loading, than how many watts are going through any particular system....

Witch is why I was recommending 15" monitor drivers, paired with an 18" sub driver, over 10" monitors, pairs with a 15" sub.

...personally listening to multiple systems next to each other in comparison is a much better guide than comparing data sheets.

Your best bet would be the JBL EON 515XT. It has the power you are looking for and it is super lightweight at about 35 pounds each. The older EON 515 should be on clearance but it is rated at 450 watts.
