    Default Old's cool trax

I'm having a 60th birthday party at my house next Saturday for my mother in law. She's a cool old cat and I'd like to impress her with a few of the more obscure sounds of her previous years.

I'm looking for anything from Northern Soul to Leonard Cohen. I am just looking for something that wasn't a big hit and will impress the folks that are coming.

I've already found an Aretha Franklin track that I know she'll love, so any more stuff would be really appreciated.

    Thanks.

My old man would be almost 60 if he was still here. I know this isnt northern soul but he was into stuff like bruce springsteen, eagles, fleetwood mac, van morrision.

I dont know whether they will be any good.

Cohen's "Songs From A Room" album is one of my favorites but may not work..."Everybody Knows", dark and profusely somber, is a votive flickering amidst the toil of...just making shit work. I love it all the same.
For northern soul, ummm go here? TONS of material to start with.
What about Joan Baez, Mamas/Papas, Jimmie Rodgers, Woodie Guthrie, Gordon Lightfoot (Sundown comes to mind), The Who,
I would have to play some JB though, funky drummer is long enough to get a smoke

    Edit:
Oh, what about James booker, Lou Rawls (sp?)
Then there's this kind of stuff

Maybe some Curtis Mayfield, Funkadelic and a bit of Ska.
And throw in some Chicory Tip for some old skool Moog action

I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.
