The best bass heavy hip hop will always be Miami bass. Two Live Crew, Poison Clan, Maggatron, and others. Some groups used to put warnings that major speaker damage may occur, on their records. Most Two Live crew records still get great reactions on the dance floor

Don't know about bass heavy - but for absolute classic, old style block party hip-hop check out Ugly Duckling. 2 MCs, 1 DJ and a whole lot of funky ass samples.

    (P.S - they're 3 white dudes...)

It ain't exactly bass heavy but Q-Tip's (Of A Tribe Called Quest) new record The Renaissance is full of that old school smooth sound. Try some Jurassic 5 aswell for an older less bling sound!

Two Live Crew (Move Sum'tin'), King Tee(Bass).

    Now THAT brings back memories!

Ah, and lest not forget EPMD and Redman (Muddy Waters).

Muddy Waters is still amongst my top 3 of all time faves!
(And that Intro.... fuck, you'll crack even the mightiest of mighty basstraps/subwoofers!)

Props for A Tribe Called Quest, that just puts me in a relax groove.

I think the above selections are spot on. Here are a few others that may help...MC Breed.."Ain't No Future In Yo Frontin"(old school), Common(take your pick), Swollen Members(ditto), Gangstarr, Beatnuts. man...I could go on for days. Old School? Underground? or just club bangers?(minus the killin') Bass heavy is most of hip hop.
