Default MIDI Controllers and 64-bit Vista?

Are there any MIDI controllers that work with 64-bit windows Vista? Specifically the Korg Nano Pad, but I've been looking at other things like an MPD32. Does anyone have any experience with this?

This might be in the wrong place, if it is I'm sorry.

It's not in the wrong place. Your best bet is to do a search on Google for the specific MIDI controller and 64-bit windows. Also, keep in mind that you can run all of the drivers in compatibility mode, so if it doesn't work in 64-bit windows you can run it like it was Windows XP.

I don't know of any specific controller that has 64-bit Win drivers. However, most drivers that are signed for 32-bit Win should work just fine.

Well I mean for example Korg says their Nano Pad works with Vista, but it doesn't specify 32 or 64 bit. I've seen drivers for certain controllers that say they are meant for 32-bit. Maybe I'm just tweaking out. But I really don't want to spend money on something that doesn't work.

Does the compatability mode thing work usually?

    Yes, the compatibility thing works.

My Remote 25SL, PadKontrol, MidiFighter, VCI-100, and Audio8DJ all work flawlessly with Vista 64

It will more than likely work. Yes, you are freaking out.

The "compatability mode thing" is a last resort. Install the 32-bit vista drivers on your 64-bit Win OS and you'll be fine. (mostly)

Alright cool. Thanks for your help. Just for the record, I really hate Vista... and it's lack of compatability.

Vista 32 doesn't really have any compatibility issues at this point. There are some for Vista 64, but like I've said, I've had no problem with compatibility mode.

In my opinion, XP is better for Audio Production. Vista has too many background services that are a pain to shut off. However, if you are having any type of compatibility issues, look into better supported hardware.

I turned off almost everything and I have no issues whatsoever. Hell, the only reason I got the Vista 64-bit Ultimate was cause it was free with my laptop, so I don't really care if I turn off the stuff I never need.

But yeah, better hardware means better compatibility.
