Is this a programming question?
Vague thread is vague

i thin this is what you are asking ..
its like the swing of a track
imagine a girl walking down the street and her butt is swaying in a curve which you could set 8 points on the swing arc within a certain amount of time
now change that swing so that that there are 16 points on that arc - whole different swing
and that swing will change the whole feeling of the environment it is in - for the track the swing or groove of the accompanying music will feel different... and same with the butt groove - more swing .. whole different environment
hope this brings you some amusement if not sufficient answer to your question

ugh....
ANYWAY
If you're talking about like "re-groovers" they essentially "human up" a digital quantized performance.
----------------
Imagine that that is a one measure of 16th spaces in 4/4 time.
now imagine I have 4 quarter notes dropping on each downbeat.
1---5---9---13---.
Now, if I were to "re-groove" it. to let's say a swing 12. It changes my note spacing into triplet 16th notes. with 12 notes possible instead of 16.
The performance has now changed.
1--4--7--10--
It's still in 4/4, but instead of the note being played being a quarter note, you've now got triplets. dramatically changing the performance.
This gets cool when you use a very SLIGHT percentage of this, just to "analog up" a robotic performance that's been overly quantized.

or it could be where the needle goes on a record.

Groove is awesome. Can't wait for the new groove tool in Ableton 8.
Damn good explanation Moniker. You definately know your stuff!
You should write some basic music theory tutorials for DJTT! Would be very helpful, especially for producers. I think a lot of dance music producers really don't pay enough attention to it.
Can't wait to mettle around with Ableton8

Monika, I don't think people on here get it.
Could you post a video of yourself walking with an 8 point arc, then one with a 16?
Ok thanks.
