Just got off with the unhelpful guy on the phone.

Anyway, he said I need an amp.

Im looking at rental amps and I am absolutely clueless. As long as it has the right ports on it will be be suitable or does the amp depend on the monitors ?

    thanks

    Hi there,

I have a gig next week and I checked out the place. In the booth they had two Neutrik nl2fc ports.

If somebody could help me out that would be a big help!!!!!!

    Thanks!

Could always plug into the house mixer ... or use its RCA/XLR cables.

Your sure the Speakons aren't for extra monitors or something ? Sounds like a mighty weird setup if not.

It is a weird setup! They don't have a mixer!

I only use MIDI and an audio 4. There are just 2 speakon wires in the booth and 4 speakers in the room.

Would I need an AMP or something ? :S

    Im a noob!

    Thanks

Hi- I had a google and they are Speakon wires -

The place is quite far away so would not be able to go back for photos. But basically its just 4 speakers and the wires seem to run from the speakers and combine into 2 near the booth. I couldn't see an AMP. :s

The two SpeakOn connectors are probably for the monitors.
A half decent but shitty club still always has a mixer in between the source and the PA.
If not, you'd blast a professional line signal (+4dB) into the amps, the amps are probably set at full, everbody gets real deaf real fast.

And even if it's not for the monitors, SpeakOn is simply a locking plug that can be used for just about anything.

They were the only wires/ports I could see where I could possibly plug in audio cables :s

Is there some kind of adapter that can link an RCA to a speakon connecter?

Or is that not a likely option ?

    thanks

When you visited, was there a mixer and monitors in place?
