    Default Need Help: International Music?

Ok, I have a gig tomorrow, and I just got a text not to long ago from the owner of the venue that Im playing at, and the text goes....

"Hi can you bring international music"

A little back ground on the place, its a mediterranean restaurant/bar/hookah lounge. The owners are from Armenia & from Mexico (dont ask). And its going to be a dinner/dance V-Day party.

I a little lost on whats international music...anyone care to give this one a stab?

To take a stab, I would imagine any tracks with another language other than english might be a start.

But "international" dosnt really spring to mind any specific genre......

The more i think about it, the less sense it makes......

What do they play in INT Airports, You could always play some deep elavator music and come over ther mike with:

Flight GA773, is now boarding at terminal 17...

Bags are not to be left unattended, If you should see an unattented bag please report it to airport security.

Get a sample of a jumbo preparing for takeoff.....

Go to a hookah bar, maybe one in westwood or Burbank and scope out the tunes. Ive heard the stufff. Its kinda cool actually. A friend of mine is a sick hookah fanatic and always takes me to all these cool hookah bars all over LA. They are always bunking cool tunes. Some of it will be Middle eastern and sound kinda trancey.

Hey Jes, you might want to look into Balkan Beats.
    (DJ Samim or something)

It's housy, with accordeons etc. Maybe that's something to go for?

maybe call the owners and ask some more specifics or examples of artists instead of guessing?

Looks like they dont really know what they talking about, so just go with your own genre,
maybe a little mainstream/commercial, and just rock that place

    Hey.
This may be a little late but at least it's something you can check out for next time.

There's a label called Putumayo World Music that does compilations with a lot of different kinds of music. A lot of it is pretty good and they have release a couple of Chill out compilations. It could be worth checking out.

    The link is http://www.putumayo.com/en/

Don't know if it's what you are looking for but it's worth checking out.

    /D
