    Default New Setup

I'm planning on upgrading my setup from a VCI-100SE and an Audio 2 to a pair of Kontrol X1s and an external mixer. Now I'm trying to figure out which soundcard to get and the more I research, the more I confuse myself. This is going to sound like such a noob question but if I'm going to have a four-channel mixer, can I use either an Audio 4 or Audio 6 or do I have to use an Audio 8 or an Audio 10?

Either the Audio 8 or the Audio 10 will be what you want because they can both put out 4 x Stereo pairs.

Some one on here was trying to use the audio 4 using 4 mono pairs, an if my memory is correct he said that the only difference was the loudness, no quality issues.
That means that you could use your Audio 2 with 4 mono outputs to a 4 channel mixer if you don't want the option of timecode.
    Hope that helps.

Yea I'm not going to be using timecode, just the X1s controlling 4 decks internally. Do you remember how much of a difference in loudness it was? Like something manageable where I would just have to turn up the gains a little or was it a lot quieter?

Loudness AND a stereo field. Sorry but a stereo signal is always better than a mono feed IMO, especially if you play anything heady or trippy.

That's exactly why I'm gonna find a used Audio 8. I like stereo.

if your not gonna super splurge ona mixer, recommend checking out a Xone 42 with two X1's and an Audio 8. I had that set up for a while and it sounded AWESOME. Traktor Effects + A&H EQ's and Filters = win.
