Id pretty much either buy 10 $ head phones, or save 100 and get something decent. Anything cheap is crap, but even if you give up DJing you will have some decent headphones for a fair few years if ya get the Technics.

I've had the RP-DH1200's since Oct. '04. They have been well used and well loved.

Yesterday, the hinge coupling crack that I've noticed for the last month or so finally split. After a liberal application of electrical tape, I feel I can get maybe another month out of this set.

I might get another pair... but I am also considering switching to Sennheiser HD25-1 II's.

Does anyone have recommendations about switching?

Ive got my nice Sennheisers for decent gigs and some cheapo Sony ones for the weekly gigs. I end up standing on them a lot so i dont use the good uns to often.
I also find the Sony ones clamp on me head round the back where as the Senns and other heavier headphones just fall off. I dont like putting them over my head, it spoils my hair hahaha

When I used to put my hair in a mohawk this was actually a real concern.

    heh

But then I started rocking liberty spikes and it make it easier.

Anyway, on topic, what brand of Senn's and Sony's do you use?

    Senn's HD25SP and dirt cheap Sony MDRV150.
The Sonys come from a huge chain of shops called Argos and they give you free damage insurance. They last a few months then i take them back and get a new pair. Ive literally had about 20 pairs of them and only paid twice. Cost about £12, sound crap but they are really loud.

The Senns are pretty much the standard in UK . Big Sony MDR700s are just to big and heavy for me. I feel like im wearing a helmet in them.

haha dude, I used to use those Sony's all the damn time. I think in three years I went through 9 pairs. $20 a piece, they were loud.

Though, I didn't know the awesome-ness of DJ headphones til I got my Sennheiser HD-25's

My Stanton DJ-3000's had to be rigged with zip ties and gorilla glue until it couldn't work anymore
