Whats the deal with the licensing for playing music out in public in australia? I understand that all music files have to be legal, and you have to have a license of some sort... But where do you apply for this kind of thing?
Thanks

My boy DJ Google just twittered that he's crying about not being consulted on this DJTT thread.
Party - to be fair, the UK regs are hardly easy to understand ... I can see why OP posted.

I understand from some research that at clubs- DJ's don't need anything, but for mobile stuff they do. And i can't find a website for application or anything so i was just wondering if anyone is in the know how.

this might be of some help http://www.mipi.com.au/Issues--Faqs/Fact-Sheets/
check the fact sheet for DJs
also http://www.apra-amcos.com.au/default.aspx but I haven't looked through their site in detail
here in Aus, clubs pay a levy per person which covers the dj's... i've talked about it in depth before in other threads on here (can't for the life of me remember which ones)
mobile dj's would need a public broadcast license of some description.
its best contact APRA for all licensing enquires...
