Default Need a sub 300 euro controller recommendation

    Hey guys.

As the title suggests, I'm looking for some recommendations for a sub 300 euro controller for a friend.

He's planning to mix tracks, undecided on which platform as yet though.

The only requirements I think should be controls for at least two channels and two jog wheels.

    Any recommendations for us?

    Cheers lads.

I'd go with the Hercules RMX, its built like a tank, Soundcard is built in, and can be used as a Mixer with external CDJ's or Turntables for timecode use as well if the software allows you to use any old soundcard e.g. Mixxx, Mixvibes, VDJ.

And hey to another Irishman on the forum you can get one for 225 euro from Thomann, they are super fast to deliver.

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/hercules_dj_console_rmx.htm

I bought mine for 300+ 3 years ago and still going strong.

    Cheers for the reply

It had been a toss-up between the Numark Omni Control and the Hercules RMX but I thought I had read somewhere that the RMX doesn't have a soundcard. Looks like I was wrong!

Hmm the RMX may be the ticket...

    Any other opinions on this?

The Hercules Steel doesn't have a soundcard but looks the same, the RMX has a 4 I/O soundcard.

I've used the Omni, and didn't feel halfway as solid for the price.

If you're budget was 70 euro more i'd say the VMS4.

The omni does have more knobs though ...

My choice would be RMX + Separate Nanokontrol maybe for FX

Have you had a look on http://www.adverts.ie/ and see if anyone local is selling a unit cheap.

Ah, must've been the Steel I was looking at then. My buddy is stretched to 300 euro maximum, this is just something he wants to play with a little. I don't even know if he's mixed before tbh!

I'd read about the Omni's poor quality alright.

Go with the RMX. I did months of research looking for a controller under 400, and even in that price bracket, the RMX was the best I could find. Bought it and was totally happy with it. Used it for about a year before upgrading to a Kontrol S4

I've actually still got my RMX, been meaning to sell it, but I'm in the States

Cheers for the testimonial! I don't think my friend would be open to second hand sales though, thanks anyway

Even second hand, doubt he'll pick up much more than maybe a Behringer BCD for under the 225 euro mark anyhows.

Considering the RMX is brand spanking new for that, with software included and under warranty, he'll prolly sell it for close to 200 if he feels he needs an upgrade after 6 months.

If he's ordering from Thomann BTW, worthwhile getting one of their Laptop stands for 15 euro, I'm a little peeved I was over my weight limit on the plane and cant get one here for less than $60

    Happy hunting.

I owned a MixTrack and I dug it. I don't think you can get a better controller for the price.
