Default What do you use to record your sets? [external]

Since downgrading from an audio 8, to an audio 2 i have now lost my inputs, which i ran from record on the mixer into, to record my sets.

Now im looking for something to record CDJ sets as well.
    Must be portable,
Writes to USB stick or SD card (internal memory optional, depending on size)
Have a phono or 1/4in input.
No fancy mixer controls, just plug in and hit record.
Be rather solid, Take the abuse of a travelling DJ.

A friend of mine uses a Zoom H4n (http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h4n) to record his sets. Just to scratch the surface, it accepts 2 external inputs via balanced xlr or trs, as well as 2 more input channels from the built in microphones (so you can record your crowd, yay). It also seems to have a lot of extra goodies, and I'm not saying it's the best recorder out there, but it sounds amazing and if I'd have to get one it would probably be the H4n or an update of it.

I have a Zoom H4, but any of the digital recorders starting around $79 will do just fine. You can probably find something cheaper shopping around.

Ive read a lot of reviews on digital recorders and it seems there is an autogain for the mic, which is applied to the line in as well, and everything that has been inputted into them is distorted. Because i looked at the lower end zooms to start with, and i seen this on DJforums,

    http://www.thomann.de/gb/swissonic_mdr2.htm

But i dont know how reliable thomann are in the UK, And i cant find this recorder anywhere else (ebay/amazon)

Plus, the H4N is about out my range, im looking at <£100

Meh, bought a Zoom H1, got a better review than the H2 did, only gripe that its microSD and its a 1/8in input, but for saving £50 i wont grudge it too much

I have the zoom H1, it works fine. It has an auto gain selector switch on the back. I recorded my latest mix using it, no distortion, its just a matter of setting your input level right.

The mix is in the mixes and productions under 'progressive mix using DB4'

you need a dn x1600, that way you can record your external mixing internally in traktor and still have use of all 4 decks.

    /shameless useless plug. lol.
