Default Home DJ - Standing or sitting?

    Hi,

Being a beginner, everything is new to me and since my setup is on a normal table, I was sitting at first playing with my S4 and Traktor. But as a couple months past, I noticed, I could actually mix better, if I stood up and could dance a little with the beat. Is that just me or something completely normal? Is that why most DJ booths are also set up so the DJ is standing?

Now I am looking for ways to raise my equipment so I don't have to bend over it.

So is dancing while DJing important to good DJing? Seems that way to me now. It just seems easier, when I'm standing. I remember Ean wrote a blog on the subject. But it was about dancing to the beat. Sitting wasn't even an issue.

practice like you play, I always say. It applies to DJing as much as it does to sports.

When I'm mixing I stand to dance and get into the music, then when it comes to producing or even well thought out mixes between multiple songs (at once) I sit down

    And

Dancing is crucial to really feel the emotion (if thats the right word) of the crowd and to dance with crowd makes it more of an experience for everyone...thats what the djiing is about, to bring an experience that people will remember..

Yeah, my next investment will be in a DAW and will be separate from my DJ setup and "sitting". I've got a ton to learn though.

I'm still carting around an old tv stand with all of my essentials to do my "work," I still have got to invest in a good DAW

Got it and I agree. I'd like to get good enough and into the position to give a live crowd an(y) experience.
