I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

Wasn't a big deal when Gates retired, but he was an opportunist. Jobs is an innovator.

I hope his health remains well enough that he can continue to contribute in a big way - he hasn't just shaped that company, he has shaped a great deal of our modern society.

Not an Apple fanboy here, just sayin.
