So i'm giving it a listen ... And good song choice.

I'm only 15 minutes in, but i'm noticing that you do exactly the same thing as i do, by just dropping the new melody in behind the original one, and then swapping at the drop, or break. Which works, but sometimes the melodies just don't work. - So try using mixing using the key of the song which should give you some better results.

Loving the mix though. Thoroughly enjoying Good work

I don't really know what you mean, are you saying that I should mix in key? I can't afford mixed in key yet but after I get a few gigs I'll look into it.

    Thanks

Theres a great one called Rapid Evolution 3 which I find works pretty well. It's just some of the transitions sound a little funny. I don't know. But i love your FX work. And it is a great mix

Yeah I know what you mean, some of the songs don't go together that well, I'll try and work on it but I'm afraid worrying about that will hinder my performance if I'm freestyling.

Thanks a lot, glad you're enjoying it.

I haven't listened to it all yet, but here are my thoughts so far.

    • Cool intro, really like that song
    • Like all the other songs, have a lot of them
    • Layering was really nice in some parts, so-so in others
    • ^^ would work better with harmonic mixing, as other have said. If you don't have Mixed in Key or don't want to buy it, Beatport lists the keys on each song's page, and it is easy to convert them to camelot keys.
    • I thought you weren't giving each song enough time. It worked in some places, but I'd prefer it if you let each song play out a bit longer.
    • Layering was really nice in the build to Save the World
    • I liked the flangerish thing at 10:20 or so
    • Didn't really like the gater afterwards though
    • Mix between Save the World and Dance Without You was really good

Solid mix, I would definitely listen to others by you.

I agree with everything you've said there - this mix was to showcase my mixing skills, rather than be a 'proper' layed out mix, some songs clash and yes, I didn't give songs enough time because I wanted to always be doing something.

In hindsight I shouldn't have used gater as it's cheap and sounds pretty crap, I need to learn how to use the other FX i.e. beatmasher.

    Thanks

EDIT: I've made this mix (and I'm doing 2 others, DnB and Trance) to send to promoters, do you think it's good enough? I think if I had a gig and played something like this people would really like it - I'm trying hard to be the best I can be so constructive criticism is a godsend. I obviously planned this mix so if I played live and freestyled it wouldn't be anywhere near as good, coupled with the fact that I can't really do harmonic mixing on the fly and try and get songs that fit together perfectly.

Yeah, I'd go ahead and send that.
