Default First time with PA speakers, power help

Hey guys I just got a pair of QSC K12 is it true its ok to plug them right into the wall with no surge protection?

Also is it ok to plug a 14 awg extension cord into a 12 awg that's plugged into the outlet? I found a 3 outlet plug but its 12awg. I'm going to plug both speakers into 2 of the outlets then the last one will have my surge protector with my dj equipment, just curious about using different gauges.

    Thanks

I think you actually suppose to plug them directly into the wall.
That's what i was told when i bought my powered speakers. (sam ash)

the different guages you have are fine. 14 AWG is plenty big enough. It certainly doesnt hurt if they had surge protection either and I would reccomend it against lightening strikes and violent surges just to be safe.
