ok, a novice question from someone who isn't the biggest handyman: How are most of you securing the capita legs to the expedit book case? I plan on mounting the vika amon table top to the book case, but Im concerned about stability. I am using the 8 inch capita legs. In most of the photos I see, it appears that the capitas are secured to the shelves/table tops but not the book case itself.
    Thanks!

Are you going to use the Capita legs between the tabletop and the shelf? I used two 2X4's between my tabletop and shelf with liquid nails. I think in the end that's a stronger bond than drilling bolts through the Ikea furniture.

If you want to use the legs though I would drill all the way through the shelving and use a bolt with big washers to spread the surface area of the mount out.

Great thread, but I have to ask Xonetacular a question: How would the whole thing hold up if you took it apart to moved it to another location and reassembled it? My guess is that it does not fit through a doorway.

This is accounted for, the two halves are attached together with metal brackets and by the leg frames themselves, so I will just unscrew them and transport the two expedit halves. Should be fine.

But do you think you could reassemble them and the screws ect. would hold up? would you just unscrew the washers or something? not the actual bolts right?

Not sure what you mean, I would just unscrew and unbolt the two halves and stands. I don't see why it wouldn't hold up.

Wow very Nice builds, I cant wait to get my s4 and some good speakers. Also I noticed allot of people are putting LED strips in they're desks, I bought allot of stuff off of this site, lots of led's for really cheap and FREE shipping worldwide, only catch is shipping takes 2-3 weeks. But for the price you cant beat it, Hope this helps some people.

i think as long as it was taken apart and not attempted with brackets hanging off it it would transport fine- my regular expedit made it fine cross country so it would be no different or this once taken apart.

If you tried transporting one of these with a laptop stand, legs, or speaker stands attached there is a very good chance you would damage it.
