I think a better question would be: What IKEA parts did you combine to make your dj table?

yeah seriously you win the internetz with this! Can we get pics?

I just use a big goddam table. It's a pretty nice wood dining room table that someone was tossing. Before that I got two adjustable saw horses from home depot http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hardw...atalogId=10053 and got a cheap kitchen countertop to go on top of it (this sort of thing but the one I got was used or something so it was only about $40): http://www.homedepot.com/Kitchen-Cou...atalogId=10053 with some squingy to keep the table from moving around (like this but it was only about $4 for a small roll http://www.homedepot.com/Storage-Org...atalogId=10053 ) ... all in all it cost about $100 and was a solid gear table that lasted me about 10 years. But a door and cinder blocks would be about the same; it's just a big table. You can get an 8 foot folding plastic table for under $100 and the advantage is it would be portable, but it would look cheap.

I always wanted a cool custom table with cutout slots for all my gear and stands for speakers and such but in the end it would cost a lot more and take a lot more time to put together, and my gear configuration has changed multiple times over the past 10 years or so. I'd hate to get something perfectly fit for my X1 and then decide I need to buy the X2 when it comes out....

    here is his build log

    http://www.bitsploit.de/archives/247...-fuer-DJs.html

I'm totally doing this, my apartment dining room is turning into an outward facing DJ booth and that is pretty slick for well under $200.

I might try to find a larger countertop type thing to go on top of the expedit so I have a little more space for gear. I'm actually thinking I might build two, one for my studio gear.
