    I just love 12s cause they're a design classic, industry standard, steeped in history, as well as the most solid turntables ever.

    It was more of a question for OP with his particular setup but discussion isn't really necessary since he's said that he's using TSP.

    I bought a technics 1200 mk2 that had the top plate banged up as all hell yet it worked perfectly.. Built like tanks.. Worked perfectly. 150 on craigslist and came with ortofon nightclub needle.

    Theres basic guides out there as to what u can look for when buying a used technics tt to make sure they arent screwed up. The test steps are about 5 mins and anybody can do them easily.

    Looks like I'm the Salmon swimming against the stream. I just picked up a pair of used Gemini PT-1000s and I have NO complaints. 100$ each, great torque, and pretty solid feeling. If you are on a budget and can find these, from what I've read, they were the last quality gemini table ever made.
