Default DJ Gear in Tokyo - second hand turntables

I'm going to Japan (Tokyo, Kioto) in november and I heard that second hand Technics turntables are cheap over there. Can anybody give some tips about it?

    Thanks!

They were, but since panasonic stopped production on them the price has risen greatly... You may be able to find a pair cheaper than ebay or whatnot, but the price is greatly different now. When I got mine in Okinawa they were a pair of Mk2 1200s and I paid 700000 yen (which was about 650 us at the time) but this was ten years ago...

As far as tips go, I'd really stay away from akihabara as it's kinda touristy and a bit pricier than youd think, you really have to explore a bit to find great deals in tokyo...also be prepared for the most orderly place on the planet...

There is a place in Tokyo called Electric Street....or something.

Its will be HEAVEN for ya!

You can pick up things there for dirt cheap second hand!

    All types of gear...

My mate picked up a Roland JP8000 for like R3000. About $260.

Nothing wrong with it at all....

You'll have a shot at picking up MK6s that were only available in Japan.

Yeah, maybe I will stay with Vestax. I've seen a couple of PDX3000mkII + Vestax mixer PMC 005pro3 + VR5ee needles= US$ 1320.00. What do you think about that? Since I'm newbie in analog equipment, can you tell me your opinions?

    Appreciate!

sarasin, thanks for your reply. I've been to Akihabara but it's a fucking mess to find out where is a good place to buy since it's a huge neighborhood. Thanks anyway!
