I'm not sure what technics prices are over there compared to in the US but typically a pair of MK2s here will go for $500. I personally wouldn't pay more than $750 for those MK5s and I think $900 would be as a high as I go on MK5s if they were really really new looking and black, but those aren't in new enough shape to command $950 at least in the US.

they could work great but they have been used and moved around quite a bit it looks like so don't take his word for it and inspect them yourself
That's what i tought to myself (and i know nothing about TTs)
I prefer black ones over these ones too, but i think i'm going to pass on this pair, huge thanks

Not bad. Those look pretty decent. The price isn't bad either.

Read up on checking the pitch calibration. That's what the dots on the side of the platter are for.

If the calibration isn't completely screwed and they hold pitch, they're probably okay. You should also, you know, play something through them so you know you won't immediately have to replace the entire wiring harness.

But, basically, if the platter moves and the bottom doesn't have chunks missing, you can fix everything else.

Also, xone, wtf? mk2s are back down to $500/pair in the US? When did that happen? I thought everyone was still freaking out about them being discontinued………

If it' via ebay you can get him to test them and have him write down exactly the condition and then pay by credit card. If they are not in the conditioned stated you cancel the payment with your credit card, report him to ebay and send them back.

Yeah they have been a steady 500 a pair since the discontinuation- I check craigslist for technics pretty regularly looking for deals. There are the people who try to ask ridiculous prices but if you browse craigslist and live near some sort of civilization you can grab a pair for $500 at just about any time. People regularly pay a lot more for them and sell them for higher because buyers actually believe the discontinuation hype but you can consistently find pairs for the same as they ever were.

I'm trying to snatch up a set of 3 for $450 to mod and resell if this guy will respond.

For a while they were reasonably priced on ebay too but I guess not now- more reason for me to buy them up and sell them there.

No, it's not via ebay, through a Dutch site, but i think it's a good deal.

Sweet. What do you see m5gs for where you are? I can't find any on CL in Atlanta, and all the prices I see online are for more like $750 each, which is stupid. Single mk2s appear to be going for more like $350.
