Why did you accept to play at this gig if you have no idea what to play ?

well, my idea is to play a deep house set, nothing to hard or banging, nothing to flashy, a bit jazzy, slow, maybe even venturing into downtempo a bit.

it's just that i've never DJed in such a setting so i wanted to run it by people who have DJ-ed pre and post a concert.

Ask the guy who's paying you what they're paying you to play.

I am a n00b, so this is a fair comment. I did ask the guy and all he said that it's cool as long as it's nothing too driving/too banging.

I think Deep House (especially the slower varieties) should work in that setting. I would look into some Henrik Schwarz tracks in particular

    check out these guys

    Bonobo
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7m86aMNjlQ

    Jazzanova
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhNVR8NMBVg

Both are experimental jazz electronic groups that have conventional elements you speak of... Bonobo has a live dj that mixes inputs, jazzanova is just a couple of insane musician/producers. Hope this helped..
