Right – I have decided to go for an S4 controlling Traktor and will be using Touch OSC to control the effects in Ableton by routing Traktor through to Ableton and using the 4th channel on the S4 for the effects signal.
Just one final bit of advice with regards to an Audio Interface – if you had the choice, would you go for the NI Audio 6 or Roland UA 33?

Ni audio 6 is solid. Can't tell you about the roland but the audio 6 won't let you down.
Macbook, S4, Novation Launchpad, Korg nanoKontrol, TSP2, Ableton 8.
