Nice thread, interesting to read. I like the fact you stuck with certain parts of your gear for a while. People are too quick to ditch everything and go with something new. Master the gear you have is my motto. I hate moving dont know how you coped doing all those moves, lol. Peace

You know, moving is a pain, but at last I am somewhere I won't have to leave for a very long time.

I still have most of my gear it's all in boxes, the Xponent, Technics, mpd24, conectiv, torq & my old Dell labtop.
They all still work and even the TCV works well. I was actually really shocked that my old dell labtop still works. It's got to be 9 years old now! It pays to spend money on certain things and computers have been one of them things I have always tried to get the highest spec at the time and you know, it pays off (I dug it out not long ago to see if it all worked still on an off chance and it does and still holds a groove perfectly!).

I do miss mixing on vinyl and I think the next bit of gear I will purchase will be something along the lines of a Z2 so I can utilize my TT's again with the fun of a DVS once more. I do miss messing around with Torq on the TT's and the Xponent. Cheers. Peace

Everything on the farm has chilled out a bit... well, actually that's a lie, it's scorching!

So today I managed to set up most of my gear (temporarily)... Super happy to play with Torq again, it still works on my 2007 Dell!

What you see - Dell Insiron E1705 running Torq 2.0.3, Xponent for cue points, loops & fx, Technics 1200 w/ Ortofon Scratch carts for mixing & cutting, Conectiv (input & output), DDM4000, Ni S4, Lenovo Y580 sat on Thermaltake cooling pad running Traktor 2.81, Yamaha Hs50m & Hs10w, Sennheiser Amperior w/ Custom Cans cable, coffin case, flight case for S4, Odyssey L-stand, boxes of vinyl, metal cases with loads of spare cables, adapters and such & Magma DJ bag...

So much mixing fun and gear!

    Peace

Yeah - that looks like a ton of fun.

I gotta say, though, it pains me to see no Dicers on those pretty 1200's...

It is indeed a lot of fun

TBF I've been out of gear acquisition mode for a few years now... I had the Conectiv first for the technics (in 2007 iirc) then I got the Xponent and an MPD24, I never needed anymore buttons... I guess they'd be handy.
I'm thinking of going down the Z2 route so I can take over Traktor as Torq is long gone for any kind of support and who knows how long my Dell will hold out.

    Peace

Default Well done Photobucket... Ruin everyones uploaded photos!

Nice to see that Photobucket jumped on the wagon of charging

It's been a while since I posted, I will try to update the photo's that were in the thread.
After not having any GAS for a while it has finally come to that time to acquire some new gear.

The DDM4k lasted for 9 long years of abuse! For the money it cost, it seriously is/was an amazing bit of kit with a lot of features that are hard to find for anywhere near that price point (£280!)

As my previous post suggests I was looking at the Z2, but it's been out for 6 years! Figured it was all a bit long in the tooth and seeing that NI seem to have gone dark on Traktor for the last year or so who knows if they will bring out another mixer (it doesn't seem likely).

I've now bit the bullet & gone relatively pro in my gear choice and bought a Pioneer DJM 750mk2 & decksaver some novation dicers & Rekordbox tcv...

Can't wait to jump on the technics again and spin some vinyl (ok, it's tcv but what you gonna do, it's close enough!)

Now just waiting on the delivery

Photo's to follow when it's arrived! Peace

    Yay Dicers!!!

And rest in peace, DDM4K. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a mixer...

All in good time. You'd be surprised how good it sounds in here considering it's basically just a stone building!
I'm super happy I have a space to have everything setup. It's been over 5 years without it all being hooked up together, I honestly couldn't be happier

The big speakers are running through an Ultracurve 32 band EQ & the monitors just sound amazing not being stuck against a wall!

Over the next year or so I will be adding bass traps & more soft furnishings to the space, however, this is not my "permanent" studio space! I am building the "actual" studio in 2019/20 which will obviously be acoustically treated etc

Loving having the Technics out after being stuck with controllers for the past few years.
That enjoyment of mixing 2 tracks together, cutting & scratching, nothing will ever replace that feeling of beatmatching, even if it is with tcv! Honestly, I can't notice a difference, other than having a screen with all the tracks to browse, it might as well be vinyl...

Really impressed with the dicers. Again, rekordbox made assigning things really simple, ok, not as simple as Torq did, but still a lot more easy than traktor.

Now I just need to make some time to find new music for the festivals this year

    Peace
