Default Skrillex nominated for best new artist grammy.

Let the flaming begin. Personally I don't much care for his music, but he seems like an alright guy.

His music's alright, and theres no doubt that he pioneered complextro. But it still doesn't do much for me.

That and the sheer amount of requests I get for Scary Monster's turns me off.

Fair enough I suppose. I mean I think he's shit but he's got to be the hottest newcomer, right?

He is a pretty good producer, I'll give him that. His songs have just been so overplayed that I am deathly bored of them. People give him flak cause of his DJ'ing routine (twist 1 knob, chain smoke, stage dive, win)

To be fair to Skrillex, he didn't asked to be nominated for a Grammy. The fact is that the nominations are shite across the board anyway.

Love him or hate him, the guy is doing really good for himself, he loves the music and you can tell he really enjoys what he does. Im happy for him and hopefully he does well for a while.

    agreed.

my biggest beef w skrillex and similar sounding artists is that it kind of killed the original dubstep sound. funny thing is that is exactly what happened to drum and bass (ie clownstep).

not that there isnt still good stuff being made, but imo the amount of derivative shitty music being made is exponentially proportional to the popularity of more accessible/crossover styles.

anyways, props to the dude for being able to make a career out making electronic music...something that is increasingly harder to do these days

People have been saying that for ages and I swear there's just as much (if not more) good dnb being made as there was before.
Also I think the beautiful dubstep scene was thrashed pretty soundly before that but eh, who know. I'm still finding some cool artists.

He must be bigger in the state than in the UK. Ive heard he makes loads of mistakes whilst performing his sets?
