So i am going to jumping on the diy controller band wagon. I have the feeling its going to take forever to build my own dream controller it all has to start somewhere.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a good CAD program that i can design the layout of the device? MSPaint doesnt quite cut it

SolidWorks might work for you. I will check our licenses. Might have one not used

Have you tried Google Sketch Up? They have a pro version and a free version. I have built many projects using the free version with no problem. Heres the sight http://sketchup.google.com/

I am currently starting to build a custom controller a well. (More on that later...)

Thanks alot for the Google Sketch Up idea. Just what I need...
Odly enough I hadn't heard of it yet.

Seems like the way to go for someone with no 3D experience.

Just for the sake of discussion...
I can't find much about Sketchup (PRO) drawbacks.

    I found this: http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/sk...ts-inside.html

Still doesn't seem like something to worry about designing a control surface.

    Any experience vs. SolidWorks etc?

My first small poject to get my skills up will probably be something for Traktor and Ableton the same time - from there who knows, the next 12 months is going to be pretty interesting.
