Hi I'm an aspiring teen DJ, and as hard as I try I can't always get mixes quite "right". I'm definitely a beginner, and not very good, so would anyone be able to help point me to online courses or books that can help me teach myself?

Practice is the best teacher along with knowing something about how music is made and knowing your own personal music selections. Sometimes I will listen to my music over and over again until I can "feel" it. I can almost sense or see when the music changes it's tone etc. There is alot of help on this forum about the things you are asking and tutorials on youtube. Ultimately listening to your music and playing around with it will be your greatest ally.
P.S
There is no such thing as a "perfect mix" at least in my book just really good ones or ones that suck. Practice definitely makes better.
MMM Making Music With Food. Yep! Taste good and sound good too!
do not pay for dj courses, they are a waste of money.
there are plenty of far better and free vids on youtube that can help you learn the craft

Maybe you could help us by telling us what gear you use. For example if you have a controller already and what software you use etc.
All I did in the beginning was be on youtube for hours looking at gear porn, trying to understand how the gear worked and also looked at countless tutorials on every aspect of DJing.
And more importantly just mess around with your gear, it 's the best way to know everything about it. Of coure the same goes for software. And just pick a couple of songs you like and just try to mix and keep on going when you suck.
Even if you suck after a month, keep on trying.
That's just what I did. Oh and also forget about facebook, this is your new home now.
