Default Ortofon Concorde Pro cartridge problem

    Hi,

One of my cartridges (ortofon concorde pro) doesn't have loud output anymore, but quite low. I changed cartridges so I know it's not a turntable issue but the cartridge one. Also I tried replacement stylus, same thing.

The point is, I'm quite unhappy how ortofon failed so early and instead of buying new one, I wanted to ask is there anything I can do to fix the current one ?

    Any suggestions or ideas ?

    Thanks in advance.

Clean the contacts first before condemning the cart?

Edit: Swap the stylus over too to make sure it is the cart is at fault.

Like I said, I tried that already and its not stylus but rather cartridge itself. ALso contacts on cartridge are cleaned but no luck.

Is it hard to open cartridge and try to see if inside something is broken ?

Honestly, and you're not gonna like the answer, but No. There is literally nothing you can do. I've had this exact same problem on an Ortofon Concorde Pro that was a gift; even after replacing the styli with one from a new Concorde, I had no luck. I tore the thing open (Steps: 1. Remove styli. 2. Very delicately pull off the little silver cap the styli slides into). When you get the cap off, you'll see nothing but a little red coil. I'm assuming this is the actual pickup part of the stylus, and as far as I can tell, there isn't any way to fix it....

I ended up buying new Concordes.

Well they are old around 4-5 years, but that shouldn't be much, right? Anyways I was pausing from DJing last two years, and in that period one cartridge stopped working. Really fucked up :/

Any other cartridges that are even more reliable then concordes ?
