    Default Scratch set up question

Firstly Hi. I am from Manchester UK and mainly play 80/90's hip hop and breaks. I sold my decks 5 years ago and have now started getting back into thimgs by playing about in ableton and have bought an apc20 for messing about with loops and stuff.

The problem is I am really missing scratching and want to get some sort of DVS set up on the cheap as I stress, I really only anticipate using this for scratching over beats with one deck. I have managed to get a second hand american audio qd5 and am sorting out a deck (probably str8-150) but what about the digital side.

At the moment I am thinking of virtual DJ pro and some serato vinyl (I think I have a sound card caplable for one deck, toneport ux1) otherwise will likely get a maya44.

How will this suit me? Should I be looking for something different? obviously there are more expensive options in serato and tracktor but would these be overkill for my intended use. I did consider getting a second hand cdx but these are not plentiful and also I have plenty on vinyl I would also like to scratch with and rip,

Also as an aside. Could I run ableton and virtualdj (or other) on the same pc at the same time. Presumably I would need a different soundcard for each? PC should be quick enough (4.6ghz i5 8gb ram)

    Thanks for any help.

    Start looking into this http://mspinky.com/

    UK vinyl retailer http://dacs-audio.com/search_results.php

NB if you want to dj with digital files i would just go the serato traktor route

just to complete this thread. i have now tried successfully vdj+serato vinyl and torq+torq vinyl through a m-audio connectiv and external mixer, then feeding into a line6 toneport ux1 into a channel in ableton with apc20 on the same pc. Seems to work fine. I think I prefer torq for scratching and two other pointers

    1. vdj and torq 2.02 don't play nice together if installed at the same time
    2. needed to disable rewire in ableton to prevent crashes
