Love my mini. You can get really weird with it, or keep it clean. Just wish it had velocity and proper keys

And on that note...with this purchase, (and an amp and DI box to support it) I think I may be done buying for the year, one week into the year.

Would a midi keyboard with velocity work or is just the nature of the synth engine.

Unfortunately not. If you want velocity control, you have to automate the volume of the actual audio clip in your DAW.

I've only gotten to play one once, and it made me really regret not sticking with piano/keyboard. Those things are up there with a Strat into a Fuchs as one of my favourite sounds ever, and I don't really even know why.

You know, you can always get back into playing piano/keys. I took lessons for years as a kid, then high school hit and it wasn't cool to play piano - guitar and drums, yes, but not piano. So I stopped practicing as a way to get my parents to stop forcing it on me. After a few years in college, I rediscovered playing, started up with lessons again and wound up teaching for a bit.

The sound is just immaculate. There are some things that sound nice, and then other things you can't get the sound of it out of your head, and that's a Rhodes for me. And while VSTs have come a long way in coming close to reproducing the sound, there's just something about playing this thing that inspires me. I come from a classical background, so improv is not my thing. I've tried to force myself to become a better improv player sitting at a piano and it's just no fun. So far, I just love sitting down at this thing banging out a chord and going - not sure why, but it's certainly money well spent. And in fact, it's also got me thinking of starting up lessons again...

Thanks guys! It's been on my bucket list (my actual bucket list, not my GAS list) for a while now. I've looked at a few locally as I wouldn't dare buy one without playing it and none have been even close to worthwhile, especially the prices people are asking for them now. It's a 74, so one of the good early years. It's actually in a lot better condition than I originally thought. Needs grommet replacement and probably some straightening of the tines with the tone bars, couple keys action are off, but overall it's in fantastic condition. Driving home with it, I thought I'd done a crap job of haggling, but after looking at it tonight, I think it was a very fair deal for both of us.

Got my RMX-1000 in. And reduced my clutter by moving to digital cables instead of RCA.

Loving this thing though. Gotta work on getting used to the timing of the release FX though.
