So in March/April I'm finally getting my Xone DB4! I have a MacBook Pro and the Traktor Kontrol X1, so the things that are missing are monitors/speakers. Now I'm doing a lot of research, and I think that the KRK Rokit-serie is good enough for me. I'm not an audiophile and I just want to have good bass (it's just for home, you know; for producing I will pick other speakers) for the neighbours . I'm still going to listen in the shop itself and choose then, though, so maybe I'll end up with others than KRK's...
But now my question is, if I pick active speakers, I'll have a build-in amplifier, right? But the thing is, my father has a Marantz PM-80 from the year 1989 or something. It's a big ass amplifier and it gives really good sound (it weight is like 15 kg?). But, I'm confused.
- Should I connect the speakers to the amplifier, or straight into the DB4? Because they already have a build-in amplifier. Does the music sound 'better' when the speakers are connected to the amplifier, or doesn't it care?
- This is the back of the amplifier. Please help me out! I'm just 20, so this mixer is older than me... I see that the KRK's has RCA, TRS and XLR connections. How the hell do I connect these to the amplifier?
