    If you're comfortable with command line tools, look at partimage its a linux app.

    Alternatively there's also a liveCD with partimage on it too, see:
    http://www.clonezilla.org/ <== Clonezilla
    http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page <== liveCD with partimage

    How to use them:

    The only problem with partimage is it does NOT clone the partition headers, you'll need to create the image first or use another app to do this. I believe clonezilla can do this with ntfsclone and DD though.

    With a linux liveCD it doesn't matter what OS it is, all that matters is that partImage/Clonezilla support your file system. the liveCD is an OS on a CD just boot off the CD and you'll be running some linux distro.

    For PC I would recommend using an Image software as Norton Ghost. You should download the iso of "Hiren's boot CD" which is free, and it is a boot cd containing lots of technitian tools for computers, among the clone tools available you have Norton Ghost 11.5. I think the last version availabe is Hiren boot cd 9.8

    You have to download the iso, burn it to a cd, and then boot from the cd. Then you can choose which tool to use. The Gui isn't too friendly but I am sure you will make it to lunch the application. Then you will need to tell the software which is the original partition to clone and you need to have another partition big enough to allocate that backup. Which will be store as a .gst (i think), which you can later restore on another partition, or use the software Ghost Explorer (included on Hiren's) to browse through your .gst fil and import or export files into it.

    Also there are other cloning tools on this cd, plus it has houndreds of usefull tools to diagnose and fix almost everything.

    I have not tryed the last version yet, I have and old 8.x copy that works great but as I am writing this am downloading the lastest version which I hope works from this link:
    http://rs490.rapidshare.com/files/20...BootCD.9.8.rar

    If not this is the official home page, which does not have downlad links (I am not able to find them, must be because of the legality of this tool lol)

    I have use this cd for years now so let me know if you encounter any issues.
