    Default Recording vinyl crackles...

Hi fellas, just consulting the expertise here on the forum for a tech problem I've been experiencing... whenever I record a mix from my control vinyl there is a constant crackling and artefacting of the sound! Obviously this isn't from my records as I'm just using a standard Traktor control vinyl. What part of my set-up is causing this, exactly? My stylus? Cartridge?

Sounds like a latency crackling. Any output from a soundcard doesn't have the usual vinyl crackles.

Or a bad cable that's periodically losing connection.

Upping your latency a bit to see if that fixes it is simpler and quicker than exchanging your cables 1-by-1 to check if there's a bad one unless you have a cable tester present.

I had intense problems like this recording through a firewire soundcard card that I eventually traced to a lousy firewire port on my computer.
