I've just been calling it UK Bass

The english do love their fish and chips though. UK bass is everywhere.
Whatever they call it, I don't care... just keep bringin' it!!!
Maya Jane Coles stuff just takes me back to a different time in House for me.
David Alvarado's Maya Songs L.P. reminds me of this sound for some reason.
Jimpster is quality as well as another Freerange Records artist Toni Lionni - his stuff is intriguing, just discovering him.
Even some of Tribal UK's label early stuff... used to love that label.

I must say it drives me mad. All the different perceptions of genre names.
I can hold my hands up, huge Deep House fan. Maceo Plex, Maya Jane Cole, Re.You, Visionquest.
Their some of my personal fav's!
I did a Deep House Mix just recently, seeing as the topic has several fans I'd love for you to have a listen.
Did anyone here attend the NYD Hot Natured party at Pulse? Thoroughly enjoyed that!
Here are the links to those podcasts I was on about, definite UK Bass as I understand it just to clear up any confusion. I think the term definitely acts as an umberella more than a specific genre hence the confusion:
http://www.xlr8r.com/podcast/2012/01/lv - for LV
http://www.xlr8r.com/podcast/2012/01/throwing-snow - for Throwing Snow, check his tune "Too Polite" on Local Action label, amazing!!
http://www.xlr8r.com/podcast/2011/10/damu - For Damu.
Also this to some extent is Bass but I would say there was a lot more there besides, amazing mix though anyway so needs a post!!

Yeah! Didn't Miguel Campbell's 'Something Special' win DJMags tune of the year? Hot Natured is also a favourite of mine
Anyone in the UK seen the new Manchester Warehouse Project line-up for easter sunday? It is pretty sick! Just bought my tickets

It's not though. Far from anything super noisy. It's hard to give one example of this sound because most artists sound different than others. Some use 4x4 beats, some use 2-step beat patterns. Some put an acid twist on it, some put a UK Funky/Garage/Bassline twist on it, some go with a more dubstep approach to it.

It all sounds different to me but it all mixes well with each other and with the classics which they are influenced by, if done correctly.
I would argue this is more Future Garage...
But then again this is another case of non-defining genres... people see music differently and as Karlos said... Genre's most of the time mean jack shit!
Music, I think has progressed to the point where songs now take from so many of the 'original' genres, (house, garage, dub etc) that new genres need to be made very often to incorporate the different sounds...
Anyone else heard of the 108-110bpm 'electro-dubstep' genre of MOOMBAHTON?
