    Default Gig question?

I have a quick question about getting gigs i've been djing for awhile now and i have played a few private parties for my friends. I was woundering how i would go about trying to get some gigs with such a small protfolio i feel if i sent in a epk or something to a promoter it would be overlook or is it worth a try.

Meet with promoters in person. Go to clubs you want to DJ at.

Leg work gets you in the door.

Try not to send demos out unless you have personally met with them. There is a saying in sales (getting gigs is sales, you are selling yourself and your skills). The saying goes, "you mail, you fail". It is easy to toss unwanted mail.

Personally, I try to meet the people that have the power to hire. Then I send em a demo CD. This has worked for me in getting guest spots at clubs and also my current residency.

That's what I was thinking... have you ever talked to the dj before about gigs opening spots or support?
