    Default audio editing software

It looks like the level meters in traktor aren't as sensitive as I like... long story short, does anyone know of a software i can drop a wave file in and normalize the levels? there's only a few spots in there that are louder, but it needs to be fixed.

The only feature I'm looking for is to set a specific level and after processing the music does not go above that. my limit is $200 on this, it will be for a PC as well. thanks for any info in advance

Get Platinum Notes AND Mixed in Key for $90.
    It's the FAQ. Read it.

Audacity - it's freeware and is a pretty powerful wave editor.

Pretty sure Adobe bought the liscense for Cool Edit.
    Its called Adobe Audition now.
I would still recommend buying a liscensed copy.
Software developers need all the support they can get.

I hear ya, i tried the (proper, i.e legal) demo of audition though, and it's been changed round too much. I like the simplicity of cool edit. so i'm gonna stick with it.

I love audition. But since my laptop is running at half speed (1 ram stick burnt out), it's back to audacity for me. But it's a great program, and whats better than freeware.
