"What is a DJ if he cant dance?"....Nothing! Why if he cant keep a rhythm while ur dancing well thats how ur mixes are gonna sound like! Crap!

I usually dance behind the booth, when I do get a little too twisted I usually ended up dancing like Morrissey with the flowers in one hand. Here is a pix when from the little cave rocking out to some Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart, Again.

im usually pretty busy behind my laptop, usually mixing 3 or 4 decks, but there is nothing i love more than to put on quality dance floor jam and take a break from the computer for just one whole song and go dance with my friends. its definitely an energy booster as well, for both the dance floor and for my djing. just make sure to catch the outro before its over

For some reason when I read this I thought of a really old, random (and probably bad) song that goes like

What is a dj if he cant scratch
what is an mc if he cant rap...
what is a beat without [something] clap
    [...]

I dont know... no one cares, my bad on rambling.

But yeah, djs that don't dance is like going to see a band play that just stands there and stares at eachother

I guess what I mean is if they don't get into the beat somehow, the dj might as well be playing World of Warcraft behind that laptop. lol

I heard this song as a remix at the bloody beetroots show in Chicago. I jammed... then I danced till the vodka almost came back up

+1 for dancing, it's what got me into DJing.

i was a party-goer for years before I started djing. love for dancing is par for the course, I honestly don't know any DJs who don't like to dance.

I thought there was a saying that "if you can't dance...DJ."

An even better thread would be about DJ dancing styles. Like the "head bob," the "fist pump," the "dual fist pump," or the "jump up and down in a stationary position." Which type are you?
