    Default ooooh, shiny new Shures

Had the 6th mid-range pair of earbuds crap out on me in the same way (broken cable near the earbud). Fortunately, they all broke inside the warranty period, so just got swapped/refunded.

Just used the latest refund to get a set of Shure 425s (as they have removable cables) which Amazon were selling at 40% off.

    They're lovely. That is all.

I have a pair of 425's, they are fantastic. Be careful walking around with them, they isolate extremely well and I've nearly been hit by cars a few times....

Uh those were 40% off and you didn't tell us? Shame... I would have picked them up on the spot.

Aye, it's odd DJing with them in ...makes me feel a little distant from the audience.

I spent about £60 a couple of times on Etymotic ER6is which broke, then swapped the last broken pair under warranty for jays d-jays + £20 or so, repeated the 'broken wire' debacle a few times, swapped the last broken pair under warranty for jays q-jays +£20 or so, had them break, claimed on the warranty, and amazon refunded me as they don't stock the q-jays anymore. I've spent about £60 more on the se425s with the hope that the detachable wire will mean that as/when the cable breaks I only have to swap that portion out, rather than buying a whole new set of phones.

    I'm hard on gear ...
