    Both

The mac is newer and thus faster than the PC (both lappies), but I am much much more literate in the ways of PCs than MACs.

Both running Traktor Pro v 1.0.
One of the VCI's is firmware 1.2 and I think the other is 1.3.
The second one was only purchased about a month ago, so I'm assuming it came with 1.3 from the factory.

I'm hoping I can boot the v1.2 VCI in channel 2 mode and then configure that for decks C/D, although from what I've been reading recently, I'm not totally convinced that will work..

if you haven't flashed either vci-100 they have firmware 1.2.

hook up one vci and rename it to vci-100 #2 & remap it to ch 2 then hook up the other vci and leave it on midi ch #1

I'm assuming I have to do that through midipatchbay on the mac?
Sounds easy enough, is remapping it to channel 2 done in a simple few clicks and then all the output signals are changed? So i don't have to configure each button individually to channel 2..?

i only this is slightly offtopic, but i am trying to use midi patchbay to get the itouchmidi.com apps to run on a different channel. so far so good. but for some odd reason it doesnt seem to remap all messages. for example CC(30) now always gets send on the original channel 1 and on the remapped channel.

are you re-assigning all the notes from ch 1 to ch 2? I know that I messed up the 1st time when I did it.

hmm how do you reassign? at any rate, i fixed my issue by simply disabling the original midi device in traktor and only using the virtual one set in patchbay.

Just thought I'd ask, I don't use midi patch bay, but another program which I think would do a similar job is midipipe
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos.../midipipe.html
it enable you to route various midi signals, clock etc into one stream.
I've used it for arkaos (which is VJ software) which can only recognise one midi input, with midi pipe I can use as amny devices as I want and just tell arkaos to look at the midipipe output for the signals
