Default Connections for KRK Rokits, Macbook Pro and Audio2 DJ

I have read numerous threads on the topic and see differing ways of doing it. I am truly confused and don't want to buy more than the necessary cables I need.

So for 2 KRKs and the A2, what is the simplest way to connect them...no mixing software, just for general listening purposes?

I would assume a 1/4" (for A2) to either RCA or another 1/4" TRS for the Rokits. But am I using both outputs on the A2, ports A and B?
Or am I using just A and then using B for my headphones?

So confused...thanks for your help and patience.

not sure what youre asking...but im guessing a 1/4th to rca for the krks and 1/4th to 1/8th for your macbook.

You just use one output e.g. A. Use the 1/4" RCA splitter that's with the A2 and run the red to the RCA input on one KRK and the white to the RCA input on the other KRK. Then Audio Midi Setup under Utilities to assign the output

Perfect, thank you. Any reason you choose the RCA connection on the KRK over the 1/4" TRS though? Just curious.

The A2 doesn't have a balanced output so there's no advantage to using TRS.

That's what I thought. Well everything sounds good then, I'll try and pick up a pair online with some Easter coupons or something.

Edit: Picked up a pair of KRK G2 8 Limited Edition Ferrari Grey

I use this when I am just listening. Plugs right into the mac output. http://www.amazon.com/QVS-CC399-03-3.../dp/B003ZZS4VO

Thought about doing that as well, but I would hope that the A2 would provide better sound quality than my Mac's soundcard. Not quite sure if that's true or not, but at least my A2 will finally get used again. Hell, I even have an A4 laying around somewhere that would also work...

Ended up using the A4, but I have a problem. I have no way of controlling the volume. I cannot use the volume buttons in OSX and the minimal setting on the KRK is still way too loud, so I have to put the volume almost down to zero on iTunes or youtube.

Is there a way to set the volume through the midi control panel on osx?

You could just use the A2 instead since it has its own volume controls? I had a setup like that all of last year while I was in Barcelona.
