DJ played a pre-recorded set at a "DJ Comp" I was at last night...

That's weak to be honest, no doubt they put on a great performance, but they weren't actually doing it live. It's like practicing for the Olympics. You might be able to run the fastest 100m dash while practicing, but if you can't do it when it counts with other competitors then it's no good.

Scandalous no one should play a pre recorded set at a completion, club night, or any other kind of event if your there to dj then dj.

My argument is it isn't their problem, or yours....it's the people who judged the comp who should have at least a tiny bit of knowledge into knowing when someone is doing it 'for real' or faking it.

The point is that the people who judged it were the crowd. You can't expect the layman to spot the deception, but you can be sure they'd turned up to see performances, not recordings.

If they knew it was pre-recorded they'd never have voted for it. It's a breach of trust. Nobody likes it when the object of their affections whispers 'I was faking it' from the pedestal they've been placed on.

from what i've read it was a dj comp.. not a lights show.
