Default Ableton Live 8 and Ableton Live 8 Suite question.

I'm thinking of trying out producing, i have no experience in producing but before i drop 600.00 $$ on Ableton Live 8

Should i just spend the 200 dollars more on Ableton Live 8 Suite?

I don't see any difference in the programs, maybe more effects?

I want to create a track like this, how long would it take? For a complete beginner...

    Yes, you definitely should.

I don't see any difference in the programs, maybe more effects?

Suite comes with instruments, effects, and sound libraries.

First of all, that is a full set, not a track. It says so right in the title and the url.
To produce an hour and forty-five minutes of music would be a gigantic undertaking. With no producing experience, and no collaborators this would take an extraordinarily long time. For comparison, that set is about an hour longer than my upcoming album is. I've been working for about four months and not quite done.

It depends mostly on whether you think the instruments included in Live Suite are worth the price difference.

I've mixed feelings on the subject……I like Analog OK, but I like Dune better. I don't like Operator. And I don't like basically any of its other instruments compared to finding good samples or other synthesizers.

honestly, the only prepackaged things in ableton i use are the effects, analog, impulse, drum rack, and simpler/sampler. other than that all the rest of my work is through VST's and sampling.

    Ablteon Live 8 is 499.99
Ableton Live 8 Suite is 699.99

Trying to decide if good idea to buy it without any producing experience.

You can use a fully functional demo for 30 days before investing any money.

I'm with Padi on this one.

Try it out for 30 days for free first. You should try that, and try making a track (however shitty it may be) within those 30 days, and then try to find a Logic trial (I am not sure if those exists - and am too lazy too search right now), and try making a track in that in 30 days. Whichever you feel is easier and optimizes your work flow, i'd pick that. Hell not just Logic, i'd try Cubase / FL Studio as well. There is no one DAW better then the others, there are just people who work faster with different DAWs due to their comfort with the programs.

The DAWs do not make music, the users make music. No one DAW is better then the others. It's a big investment, so try them all out and then decide.
