    Default The DJ Résumé

    Good Morning Good People.

I have an interview coming up with a DJ company, and though they said I don't NEED a résumé, I definitely want to show them that I'm interested. I have a solid résumé already, but it's more for marketing, graphic design, etc. I tried searching, but I couldn't find an answer in regards to whether or not there is a right or wrong way to format a resume specifically for DJing.

I would assume it should include: residencies, larger events, gear, references, anything else?

    Thanks in advance,
    BC

    EPK....

    Electronic Press Kit.

There was an article on this a whole back. Search for the above.
It basically tells you what you need and how to present it.

But for an in person interview, wouldn't it be beneficial to have something on paper to give the person interviewing you?

Well, check it out and you will see that it contains what you need.

Rather have it all, than not have enough.

There will be a sheet indicating your gigs...etc.
They will need a mix or 2 of yours to be able to show clients etc.

Its a DJ Company that gets you gigs right?

    EPK...check it.

Heres an honest question, how did you "land" an interview with a DJ company/promoter?

There is this DJ bio writing tool that can help you...although I think it's a bit cliché it could be a good start..

Well this sounds like its a mobile DJ company. If its a mobile company they will probably ask you to do an audition, make you do a few transitions, ask you a few questions about song selections, and want to hear you speak on the mic. I don't know of any promoters that would sit you down for an interview, they would just want to hear a mix.
