if you HAVE to play with a gimmick its not worth it. Your music should be first, not the gimmick, outfit, whatever.

While this stuff may seem amusing, it's this whole idea of having a "gimmick" in the first place that is fucking god-awful. A DJ should be playing music well, not wanking off the crowd with stupid shit. Music is our game, and that should be more than enough. Personally, I like to have standards when it comes to the things I want to do, and also have a professional front. If someone offered me a sponsorship, but I needed a gimmick? I'd ask what theirs was, and probably politely decline explaining the only gimmick that I have to offer is being a professional at my job, and my tune selection and technical skill.

People who want to make a quick buck employing or being employed by those who want a gimmick, go for it. Someone has to fill that niche. But when people only know you for the stupid shit that you've done, and you actually want to move on from that? Good luck. Because the people will be there backing you for your gimmick, and not your selection or skill. When you take that away, they will go away.

And those are exactly the kind of people I don't like in the music scene.

I think i'm just about there. Even if so, I still have until midsummer till they plan on booking anything for me. I live in Vegas btw, so there's plenty of different clubs for me to experiment in.

oh yea, definitely. my 16 yearold friend has already dj'd in half of the clubs in vegas.
