    computer/programming skill
    electronic knowledge for troubleshooting etc
    being able to stay level headed in high-stress situations

    realistically, if your goal is to get booked, all you need to do is be the most social guy and kiss everybody's ass. Not just other industry people, but the actual randoms at events. Half the DJs I see get booked, get booked because they are friends with all the people at the event, so they'll show up for their set, and the DJ looks like they're killing it because they've got the crowd.
