    Default traktor's auto-limiter.

    hey people!

Im having a hard time figuring out exactly how Traktor's auto-limiter works.. Im sorting out my gain-staging, but I can't for the life of me figure out when in the signal chain the limiter kicks in. all Im sure of is that its definitely squashing all my tracks, all the time. and considering how squashed my tracks are anyways, it regularly is ruining a track (at least to my ears. as a producer I'm quite picky with the sound).

all I can think of doing right now is using auto-gain to to make get each track roughly similar loudness, but habitually turning back the gain knob for each track, say, -5db maybe. is there a setting somewhere that could essentially do this?

    thanks

It's easy, check the software's master meter in the top center of the screen. If it's hitting the red, it's limiting. You can adjust the headroom in the latter versions of Traktor.

    Prefs > Mixer > Level > Headroom.

Nice tip! Didn't know that. Will definitely check this out even though not having any trouble with clipping yet.
