Get something with at least 3 gigs of DDR memory. 256 dedicated memory graphics(more is always better) I have a 17 inch widescreen, but my resolution isnt that great wish it could go to 1600x1200 so yeah big screen with big resolution is always nice more shit on traktor fits thats way. Get a laptop with as many usb connections as you can, 4 is doable. Dont worry about sound, you will need an external sound card like the Audio4/8 depending on wether you use scratch or not. Oh yeah and a big fat juicy harddrive. I would say Azus Laptops have the best bang for the buck hands down.

search the forum. It's amazing how often this SAME question comes up.

I have a mega long post about many manufacturers and laptops right there.

I'm going to comment on Animus' message though. Try to avoid 17" laptops at this juncture. They still have inverter/power flow issues. I know you want the biggest and best, but cut yourself a longterm break and get a 15.4"

Noticed in the review of notebook manufacturers no mention of Sony.

I'm looking at getting a Sony Vaio Z. Powerful, 1600x900 screen, 7200rpm HDD, firewire, under 4lb, probably a bit spendy.

Once you've owned a laptop that's under 4lb in weight, you'll never go back. It's the difference between "sure, bring it along" and "yeah, I'll probably leave it at home this time".

You pay an extra £1000000 on vaios just because it says vaio on it, you can get better spec for less!
