Default Going to be in England (around london) for a month! Any recommendations?

    Hey guys,

I'm visiting England for about a month and I'll mostly be around the London area. I've been doing some research as to what spots to check out and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions

I'm into everything from heavy stuff, to disco/funky house, to older progressive stuff, etc.

what are some of your are some of your favorite places around that area?

also, are there any cool record stores or dj/music stores you would recommend checking out?

Make sure to check out the Ministry of Sound - piece of DJ history and still one of the best places to hear massive name DJs.

If you want to see/hear underground on a large scale, one word, Fabric. MoS worth checking out for historical reasons I agree. Also have a look through http://www.timeout.com/london/clubs/.

Record shop wise, sadly a few have closed but I believe Blackmarket in D'Arblay Street is still going strong, again you have to go just for dance music historical reasons. A lot of the greats in dance music have stepped through that little door and quite a few kicked off their careers there. It will also serve as a great place to get suggestions on proper, underground nights out in London. Also check out Soul & Dance Exchange, Sister Ray, Rough Trade.

    thanks for all the responses

I'm thinking I might go check out laidback luke at mos on the 7th. Fabric seems cool and I've been wanting to check out a tech house night, so I'll probably hit that up as well.

I like Corsica Studios - smaller, more intimate venue, seriously oversized Funktion One and a music policy that sometimes is ahead of times.

If you're into Techno, I'd probably see Kevin Saunderson play here.

This also sounds good if you enjoy some Berlin sounds.

In general, Resident Advisor is a very good place to find events in London, so that's where you could search for yourself if you didn't do so already.

The weather can sometimes be schizophrenic. One second it's warm enough to take off your coat, the next second you have rain flying at you sideways.

Actually I know a guy that's there right now. He already posted pics on FB and in one day you can see coats on and off.

But yeah, you definitely won't be needing shorts and flip flops.
