    Most people would say yes, but I would say no. All depends on what kind of "thump" you want. Those speakers are definitely adequate to rock any party, but there's no denying the low end bass you would get from the sub. Also keep in mind how much bigger the sub is and how much more it weighs. Those are huge factors for me, which is why I don't use one.

    If you have any kind of instruments that play under 100hz... You need a sub.

    Having heard them, I'd say no. I don't think any of those instruments really go low enough to need one and the k12s have pretty decent bass response.

    But…what do you mean by electronic drums? Do you mean something like an 808 or more like roland v-drums?

    Considering there is an electric drum, ie no acoustic reinforcement, I would opt to get at least one sub.
